The Overland Park South Rotary Club and Jazz in the Woods, Inc. will present the 23rd annual installment of Jazz in the Woods on the evening of Friday, June 15th, and the evening of Saturday, June 16th. Each year more than 20,000 people gather at the Corporate Woods office park in Overland Park to relax and enjoy jazz performances. These free performances are made possible by the hard work of members of the Overland Park South Rotary Club and the generosity of many local corporations whose sponsorship have allowed this event to raise more than $1 million for local children’s charities. The annual summer festival features a variety of music every year. In the past, attendees have heard traditional jazz, ragtime, fusion and contemporary jazz, blues and more. This year, on Friday, beginning at 6:30pm, the event will feature Jonathan Butler, Warren Hill, The Elders and Marcus Anderson. On Saturday, beginning at 5:45pm, the event will feature Oleta Adams, Davina and the Vagabonds, Brian Simpson, Jackiem Joyner and Dotsero. The local children’s charities benefitting in 2012 from the event are the Fox 4 Love Fund for Children, Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center, Operation Breakthrough and the Future of Hope Fund (the Overland Park South Rotary Club’s charitable foundation).
