Description: Latino Festival
Latino Festival 2012 will provide an unforgettable cultural experience for the whole family. Visit Latin American cultural tables and enjoy a variety of games and activities for children.
ACTIVITIES:
Noon - 3pm:
Explore the countries of Latin America: Visit tables representing Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, Peru, etc.
Noon - 2:30pm:
Children's games and crafts on the playground: Children of all ages are invited to enjoy Latin American games, songs and a variety of crafts.
1:45pm:
Pinata breaking event.
PERFORMERS:
11am:
Cachecanto: From the heart of South America to the heart of America. This musical ensemble will interpret Andean music using a variety of instruments including wind pipes.
Noon:
Los Bailadores: This dancing troupe directed by Teresa Perez will perform dances from the regions of Mexico. Los Bailadores is a non-profit organization that provides traditional Mexican dance instruction in Kansas City. Performers include youth ages 3- 18.
1pm:
Trio Aztlan: This musical trio performs all styles of Latin folkloric music, but has focused on the traditional "bolero" style of Latin romantic music, but they've also been known to rock out with their acoustic instruments.
2pm:
OLE: Music and Dance of Spain: Dressed in traditional Spanish folk costume, this troupe uses castanets and footwork to demonstrate the colorful and lively dances of Spain. The dancers are accompanied by live Flamenco guitar, violin, voice, and cajon.
