Visit Overland Park Insider, Jana Meister, shares some of her favorite tropical cocktails in Overland Park.

Ice cold drinks and patio vibes are the best way to beat the Midwest summer heat! Overland Park has some of the best places to grab a vacation in a cup and enjoy the scenery. I visited several spots around OP and ordered up a few of the best beach cocktails in town! Grab your paper umbrellas and sunscreen -- let’s go!

CocoBolos Wood-Fire Grill & Cantina

Margaritas are a staple at Coco Bolos in Prairiefire. They serve margarita flights featuring your choice of several flavors: House Lime, Wild Berry, Passion Fruit, Pineapple Ginger, and Mango Chili. My personal favorite was the Mango Chili; a sweet sip with a little spicy kick!

Pinstripes Bowling Bocce Bistro

After CocoBolos, head across the street to Pinstripes. Peach Sangria Bellinis pair perfectly with a Sunday Brunch Buffet! Pinstripes serves up Mimosas, Sangria, and Bellinis alongside an incredible brunch buffet feast every Sunday from 10 am – 2 pm. The expansive Sunday brunch buffet features rotating seasonal dishes and brunch favorites. Savor the flavor with dishes such as a prime rib carving station, waffle bar, made-to-order omelets, and a decadent dessert table. Adults: $27 per person | Kids 6-12 years: $12.

Brass Onion

I found a secret menu drink at Brass Onion in Prairiefire. The Privateer is a take on a summer bourbon sipper with smooth vanilla and caramel flavors, tiki bitters, brown sugar mixed with black cherry, and a burnt pineapple to garnish. An absolutely amazing take on bourbon with a smooth summery taste. On Thursday nights The Brass Onion posts their drink and food specials to their Instagram page for the upcoming weekend.

Overland Park Grill by J. Alexander's

Seasonal drinks rotate by the week at J. Alexander’s. I tried the two on the menu this week featuring Gray Whale Gin. The first option is called the Oceanside. It has gin, salted simple syrup, lime, soda, and fresh mint. The second option is called the Whale Flower. It has gin, elderflower, grapefruit juice (freshly squeezed daily) and club soda.

Chicken N Pickle

The Tiki Shack at Chicken N Pickle is now open! The Tiki Shack is a pop-up Tiki Bar experience sponsored by Bacardi. Palm trees and sandy beaches may be far away from Overland Park but, Chicken N Pickle is bringing you all the ocean vibes with several tropical drinks and menu items for just 100 short summer days. I tried two exclusive drinks while visiting the Tiki Shack bar. The Purple Haze is an infusion of flavors including coconut, blackberries, orange, and pineapple. And the Dirty Bird; served in a coconut cup, features bourbon, pineapple, and almond.
