Overland Park is home to several distinct shopping districts, each offering a unique blend of stores, dining, and entertainment. Holiday shopping is made easy in Overland Park - there is truly something for everyone! These are three of my favorite areas to shop during holiday season (and all year-round).

Stanley Square: South OP Convenience

Located in southern Overland Park, Stanley Square is the ideal shopping spot for those who value convenience and local charm. It offers a more relaxed experience compared to the larger commercial centers, perfect for everyday errands or a quick shopping trip. Here's a look at some of my favorite stores in this district:

  • Rally House: A go-to spot for local sports fans, Rally House offers an extensive selection of team gear, apparel, and memorabilia for local favorites like the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

  • Native Seed Boutique: A trendy women’s clothing boutique offering a carefully curated selection of women's clothing, accessories, and unique items. Native Seed Boutique is a great stop for fashion-forward shoppers looking for chic, everyday looks.

  • Sweet Caroline's: This candy shop will take you back to your childhood in the best way! Pick up fudge, ice cream or a variety of candies at this charming neighborhood candy store. Everything at Sweet Caroline's is both delicious and adorable!

  • Monarch Books & Gifts: This independent bookstore has a carefully curated selection of giftable products and new and used books, with a focus on local authors and genres ranging from fiction to history. Monarch Books & Gifts is cozy spot for book lovers to browse and find their next read.

Stanley Square is perfect for residents looking for a nearby shopping spot with a mix of essentials and small local businesses. It’s low-key, easy to navigate, and just the right size!

Prairiefire: Family-Friendly Entertainment

Prairiefire is the ultimate destination for families and visitors looking for a mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment. This vibrant district is centered around the visually striking Museum at Prairiefire, and it boasts several boutiques and popular dining options. Some of my Prairiefire favorites are:

  • Fat Brain Toys: A must-visit for families, this toy store specializes in educational and creative toys that encourage learning through play. There is something for every kid on your shopping list at Fat Brain Toys!

  • Made in KC Marketplace: This local shop features Kansas City-area artisans and makers, offering everything from handmade jewelry to locally crafted goods. Made in KC is my go-to store when I am shopping for holiday gifts!\

  • REI: An outdoor enthusiast’s dream, REI offers high-quality gear for camping, hiking, cycling, and more, with knowledgeable staff ready to help you plan your next adventure.

  • Threshing Bee Boutiques: A thoughtfully-curated selection of boutiques under one roof! At Threshing Bee Boutiques, you'll find a selection of home decor, gifts, clothing, and accessories for the fashion-forward person on your shopping list.

Prairiefire is perfect for families or anyone looking for an engaging shopping experience with entertainment dining options all in one place!

Downtown OP: Historical Charm

Downtown OP, also known as Old Overland Park, is the place to go for all your holiday needs. This district offers a charming, small-town atmosphere with local shops, cafes, and boutiques. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely day of shopping. There are so many great spots, but here are just a few of my favorites:

  • The Culinary Center of Kansas City: More than just a store, The Culinary Center of KC offers cooking classes, demonstrations, and a shop full of gourmet ingredients, tools, and kitchen gadgets.

  • Ensemble: A trendy women's boutique offering a stylish and modern collection of apparel and accessories. Ensemble is perfect for fashionable shoppers who enjoy unique, curated pieces and on-trend outfits.

  • Crafted Fair Trade: A shop dedicated to ethically sourced, fair-trade goods from around the world. Crafted Fair Trade offers everything from handmade jewelry and clothing to home decor, ensuring each purchase supports artisans and sustainable practices.

  • The Pretty Posy | A Books and Gifts Boutique: This charming boutique offers a delightful mix of books, gifts, and unique finds. Whether you're searching for a special book or a thoughtful gift, Pretty Posy Boutique has meaningful items perfect for any occasion.

Old Overland Park is ideal for those who love local charm and a slower pace. It’s the kind of place where you can spend the day exploring one-of-a-kind shops, trying local restaurants, and discovering hidden gems.

Each of these Overland Park shopping districts has something unique to offer. If you're looking for an easy, low-fuss shopping experience, Stanley Square is your go-to. If you prefer a modern district with activities for the whole family, head to Prairiefire. And if you love boutique shopping in a charming, historic setting, you'll find Downtown Overland Park irresistible.

Wherever you choose to shop this holiday season, Overland Park’s districts are full of vibrant local businesses that make every trip memorable.
