Q - Tell us a little bit about your role at your restaurant. What makes it special and what you feature.
A - Founder and Executive Chef. There is lots of barbeque in Kansas City but there is nothing like this—serving freshly prepared and made from scratch food in an open kitchen and a full-service fun environment.
Q - What is the one thing you would recommend someone to eat at your restaurant?
A - The most popular items are the Competition BBQ Brisket Plate which includes burnt ends.Mr. Burns is the best-selling brisket sandwich.However, we just introduced new items.Some of the best new favorites include the smoked brisket poutine and the Pork Belly BLT.
Q - What’s the best thing you have ever eaten in Overland Park? What made it so memorable?
A - We’ve enjoyed outstanding celebrations at J. Gilberts. From family birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations we love the outstanding food and great service.My favorite meal is the seared sea scallops with lobster risotto.Fresh and light and loaded with flavor.
Q - If you have friends in from out of town, what Overland Park restaurant is at the top of your list to recommend?
A - Besides Q39, we especially enjoy brunch at Rye.
Q - Any thoughts on the culinary scene in Overland Park you would like to share with visitors from out of town?
A - Kansas City has quite a creative culture and this is also true for culinary. We are lucky to have outstanding award-winning chefs and restaurants for any foodie to indulge in their favorite cuisine.
