And because Overland Park is home to so many world-class facilities, the city is a popular host for a variety of regional, national and world tournaments and championships.
Recent tournament and championship highlights include the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship, won by the neighboring Kansas City Kansas Community College Blue Devils in 2016 and played at Johnson County Community College’s Cavalier Gymnasium.
The Blue Valley Recreation Complex is one location for the World Fastpitch Championships. And the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex hosts several tournaments, including the Heartland Midwest Classic, held Labor Day weekend, and U.S. Youth Soccer.
