A Dog’s Guide to the Best Pet Friendly Places in Overland Park

Meet “Bird”, @Extraontop’s sweet rescue pup living in Overland Park. She enjoys pets from her big brother and chasing squirrels at the park. Her family does lots of things together, and she wanted to share her perfect day in Overland Park.

Hi, my name is Bird and I am a rescue pup living in Overland Park. My parents Chuck, Cassie and my big brother brought me home one wintry day in February 2019. Now I’m a healthy happy dog living in my forever home! 

We do lots of things as a family, but I wanted to share with you our perfect day in Overland Park. 

I woke up my mom, dad and brother with a wagging tail and some licks.  First thing, we headed to Thomas Stoll Park dog park for a walk. I loved watching the ducks in the pond and running alongside my brother as he biked the path- man he is fast!


Our next adventure was BarK in River Market. I got to play and meet new dog friends, like Archie, a black lab. We wrestled and rolled while my family ate lunch. We were watched over by caring dog tenders who helped us play together. After that, I ordered a gourmet flight of food including some local Betty Rae’s ice cream. Delicious!


Then we stopped by Three Dog Bakery to pick out some treats. I chose a few dog pastries including a carrot cake, a donut and a cannoli. Mom tells me Three Dog Bakery was founded just around the corner in KC by dog-loving people like us!

After that, I went shopping with mom at Land of Paws. She picked out some pretty cool dog toys. I like to chew and the sales associate was super helpful to suggest toys that were a good fit for me. I also got a very cute dog handkerchief with my favorite animal to chase- squirrels! 


Next, we headed to Half-Price Books. Everyone was super friendly and I got lots of pets from the ladies working there. We even got a book for my brother, about a dog superhero.


We ended our perfect day at Rock and Brews at Prairiefire. The rock ‘n’ roll themed restaurant has a heated patio. They were ready for all of us including a special doggy bowl and menu just for me.  I had grilled chicken for dinner and even got a few French fries from brother.

After all the excitement of a long day I curled up in bed and slept like a puppy. I love living in Overland Park!
