Visit Overland Park for Spring Break
Spring Break in Overland Park is the perfect time to shake off the winter blues and embrace the fresh air and sunshine.
While many people think of beaches or big cities for their getaway, Overland Park, Kansas, is an underrated (and less crowded!) destination packed with outdoor adventures, a bustling restaurant scene, and family-friendly fun.
Outdoor Adventures
As the sun peeks its head out, Overland Park's parks and playgrounds come to life. Here are some must-visit spots for outdoor fun:
Indian Creek Bike & Hike Trail
Take the road less traveled and traverse The Indian Creek Bike and Hike Trail!
It stretches across 17 miles of Kansas and Missouri. The trail is approximately 10 feet wide with mile markers every half mile. It is generally level and paved which works well for strollers and bikes, but there are some steep grades for short sections.
This trail system provides miles of open and green space connecting the city’s parks, neighborhoods, schools, recreation facilities, and more. Leashed dogs are welcome, too!
Bietigheim-Bissingen Park
Want to explore somewhere new? Nestled in south OP at the corner of 159th Street and Quivira, Bietigheim-Bissingen Park (or Bi-Bi Park) opened in late 2025 and quickly became a favorite park and playground for families.
This park celebrates the long-standing sister city relationship between Overland Park and Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, giving it a unique cultural twist that sets it apart from your typical neighborhood park.
Kids will love the bilingual playground with play panels in English and German, and there's also a hands-on water table shaped like the historic center of Bietigheim-Bissingen that invites curious little hands to splash and explore.
Beyond play structures, there's bocce ball lanes, a nature boardwalk, a quarter-mile loop trail, and a towering limestone sculpture from German artist Dieter Kränzlein.
Eat and Play
Spring break calls for great food and a little built-in fun. Explore where to treat the whole family to a meal that doubles as entertainment.
Along with classic go-to's like Dave & Buster's and Topgolf, Overland Park offers exciting eat-ertainment venues that will keep everyone at the table smiling.
Andretti Indoor Karting & Games
Ready to trade the playground for high-speed thrills? Andretti Indoor Karting & Games delivers all-ages excitement in one massive indoor space.
Race around the professionally designed indoor karting track, then keep the momentum going with arcade games, laser tag, bowling, and immersive virtual reality experiences. There’s plenty here to fill an entire afternoon, especially for older kids and teens who want something fast-paced and action-packed.
With a full-service restaurant on site, you can refuel without slowing down.
Pro tip: Traveling with a group or celebrating a special ocassion? Make reservations through their group sales team to experience front of the line service with reserved race and attraction times.
AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk
Looking for an exciting place that combines the thrill of sports with endless entertainment? AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk in south OP is one you won't want to miss.
Alongside the impressive sporting facilities, at Hawk's Outpost you'll find an arcade, laser tag, bowling, a 715-foot aerial zipline, sports simulators, and an immersive 3D motion theater where you can compete for the high score as you battle through virtual worlds.
Once you work up an appetite, head to the Grab-n-Go Café & Bar or onsite Bar & Grill to grab a bite. Fun fact: There's also a Chick-Fil-A on the second floor!
Chicken N Pickle
To keep the kids entertained for hours, head to Chicken N Pickle. This entertainment complex, located in Priairiefire, will welcome spring breakers with pickleball, bocce ball, shuffleboard courts, and outdoor games.
And come hungry! The Lil’ Peeps menu features classic options like grilled cheese, cheeseburgers, and chicken strips all for $7.49.
Meanwhile, parents can unwind with a drink from the full-service bar while keeping an eye on their little ones having a blast.
Indoor Fun for the Whole Family
Beyond the outdoors and food, Overland Park is packed full of fun attractions designed for a week of non-stop family fun.
iFLY Indoor Skydiving
The next best thing to skydiving? iFly, Overland Park’s indoor skydiving experience.
Instructors will give you and your kids one-on-one training then suit you up for your flight into the two-story vertical wind tunnel.
iFly welcome fliers from ages 3 to 103 to feel the thrill and adrenaline rush of skydiving without the feeling of “falling” from the sky.
KidScape at the Johnson County Museum
One of Overland Park’s best places to play has to be KidScape at the Johnson County Museum. This indoor play area combines a museum of Johnson County history with a hands-on children’s play space.
Kids can experience various exhibits like a diner, train station, city market, school, and doctor’s office to learn about the history of these jobs.
With $4 admission for kids, this indoor play spot is affordable and fun for toddlers through elementary!
Museum at Prairiefire
Does your kid love dinosaurs, insects, space, or on-hands on learning?
Visit the Museum at Prairiefire to see the giant t-rex skeleton in the lobby and then head upstairs to the Discovery Room. This room is geared towards ages 3-12 and features a dinosaur excavation site, space room, reading nook, and animals to observe. If you’re lucky, you may even get to hold one!
