Whether you’re a red, white, rosé or sparkling wine drinker, there’s no shortage of really great wines in Overland Park. Overland Park is home to two gorgeous wineries and several wine bars. Whether you're spending a day date tasting the grapes of Kansas or spending time with a group of friends on a serious mission to find your next favorite wine -- Overland Park raises a glass to welcome you.

Join me as I take you through a personalized tour of my experiences at wine bars and wineries in Overland Park. I hope this will help you plan your itinerary next time you’re visiting!

Aubrey Vineyards

Walking into Aubrey Vineyards, you’ll find twinkle lights hanging above the tasting room patio just begging to be sat beneath. I felt relaxed immediately. But I wasn’t at Aubrey Vineyards just to relax. I opted for a 3-flight tasting of two dry whites and a rosé. Although I am still new to Kansas wines, I was very impressed. Their chardonnay was delicious. For those of you who opt for a less buttery chardonnay option, this one is for you. Their Chambourcin rosé was also a hit, and as we in the industry say, a definite "patio-pounder." The staff was knowledgeable and friendly but gave us space to taste and enjoy. If you're visiting Overland Park, I highly recommend spending an afternoon at Aubrey Vineyards.

Bourgmont Winery

A bit further south from Aubrey Vineyards is Bourgmont Winery. Upon arriving I felt I was transferred from Kansas to somewhere in Napa. Bourgmont Winery’s tasting room and patio are stunning. With a large patio, pergola and a pond view, it's the perfect weekend getaway. If you're visiting in the winter, the tasting room backs up to an event space with candles that hang from the ceiling. It’s easy to see why so many nuptials are held on the property. Bourgmont Winery is ideal for an afternoon with girlfriends or a date with a special person out in the country. My favorite wine at Bourgmont is the Sparkling Seyval. It’s mixed with the perfect amount of bubbles to make it crisp and refreshing. Take a bottle or two of this one home!

Wine Bunker

The Wine Bunker is an urban wine bar located in the Prairiefire district in Overland Park. If you want an atmosphere that is cozy and warm, this is the place for you. I happened to catch a live band while I was there, too. The tasting room has a mantra, “My only regret in life is that I did not drink more wine.” – Ernest Hemingway. It’s a mantra I can get behind. I picked a flight of white wines suggested by the very helpful staff. The Wine Bunker offers light food pairings to go with your wine. You can order by the glass or a flight from over 100 bottles to choose from. It’s a great spot to hang out after a movie at AMC Theatre or pickleball at Chicken N Pickle. I will definitely be taking my girlfriends back here for a girl’s evening.

Louie’s Wine Dive

Louie’s Wine Dive knows its wines. After all, it’s in the name and it’s also on the walls. And while Louie’s is not really a “dive” wine bar, it definitely has a more casual atmosphere. There’s no need to worry about wine snobs here. You don’t want to miss ordering off the food menu either, as they have a full kitchen too. Let me let you in on a secret about Louie’s Wine Dive: the best time to come is during brunch with girlfriends. The beignets are the biggest in town. And they pair nicely with almost-bottomless mimosas at brunch. Don’t be shy to come back with a date to spend some time over the extensive wine list over dinner. Most wines can be bought by the bottle on the menu.

Veritas Wine and Whiskey

Veritas is also located in Prairiefire. It is home to a vivacious scene that also had a live band when I visited. They have an inviting bar that opens to the patio during nice weather. The bartenders know the wine list well and are generous if you want to have a sip of something new. Veritas has one of the most extensive wine lists in Overland Park (and whiskey too!) Wines are sold by the glass and changed out seasonally. Don’t let its name fool you – there’s a whole lot more here than just wine and whiskey -- the food here is amazing. The Fresh Burrata pairs well with the chardonnays and you don’t want to miss the baked brie!
