18th & Vine Jazz District
Overview
The Historic 18th and Vine District is home to two exceptional museums, each paying homage to Kansas City's proud history. The American Jazz Museum provides an interactive space for year-round concerts, special events and rotating exhibitions. Special artifacts on display include one of Louis Armstrong’s trumpets and a sequined gown worn by Ella Fitzgerald. In the adjoining Blue Room, which resembles a 1930's-era nightclub, you'll enjoy jazz performers several nights a week. The adjacent Negro Leagues Baseball Museum tells the story of African-Americans' role in the evolution of baseball, dating back to as early as the 1800's. The hundreds of artifacts and stories on display give America's favorite past-time a whole new meaning, and it's no surprise that the Museum's fans include everyone from American Presidents to current professional athletes.
