Plein Air Paint

Overview

Join us on September 5th from 4:00 - 8:00pm for a sunset quick paint in our beautifully maintained gardens. There are limitless options to recreate the flowers and landscapes of the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. Or, choose to take the adventurous route and capture the prairie or woodland trails. Following the timed paint, join us in the LongHouse Visitor Center for a small reception and judging. Then have the unique opportunity to hang your work for the public to view until November 4th. Artwork needs to be ready to hang in our LongHouse gallery.

Get your canvases stamped in the LongHouse Visitor Center from 3:30 - 4:00pm on September 5th.

Open to the public, open to all levels.

$35 registration fee. No purchase award. No refunds, fee is transferable to another participant. Pre-registration is preferred.

Traditional mediums only; oil paint, acrylic paint, pastel, pen & ink, gouache, pencil, watercolor, tempera, etc.

Two "best in show" winners will be chosen by a judge, $300 prize for each winner.

Paintings will be displayed in our LongHouse Community Gallery as space allows from September 5th-November 4th. We reserve the right to omit entries from this exhibit for any reason.

18 years and up. Maximum size 16x20"

Schedule of events:

3:30-4:00pm: Artist Check in at LongHouse
4:00-8:00pm: Competition, submit work by 7:30pm. One piece per person can be submitted.
8:00-8:30pm: Reception, Judging, and Awards
