We’ve already spilled the tea on where to find delicious barbecue and pizza in Overland Park. Now it’s time we take you on a tour of some of our favorite Mexican food spots that OP has to offer. The list is long, so we’ve organized these by region. Let’s go!

North Overland Park

We love La Fuente for their variety of traditional street food. Snack on chips and La Fuente’s incredible salsas before diving into a torta or sopecitos. Definitely save room for dessert, and we wish you the best of luck trying to pick between the flan and tres leches cake!

Casa Grande is delicious every day, but we highly recommend a Friday visit for their carnitas special. If you’re looking to add some extra heat to your meal, an order of the bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers will do the trick.

Taco Naco KC started as a taco stand at the Overland Park Farmers’ Market. One year later, the Taco Naco market and taqueria opened in downtown OP. You can’t go wrong with any of Chef Fernanda’s “tacos made with love,” but the brisket barbacoa and quesabirria tacos are among the standout fan favorites.

Central Overland Park

What more do you need to know about Taco Via other than it’s Jason Sudeikis’s favorite? The menu offers classics like the tostada and enchiladas, along with some unique takes like the taco dog and Mexican pizza.

If you’re looking for some solid street tacos, there are a few spots in Central Overland Park that we’re particularly fond of. El Fogon does everything so well that you’ll want to order one of each. Tacos 4 Life will make you feel extra good about your taco consumption—for every taco (or bowl, salad, quesadilla, or nachos) purchased, a portion is donated to Feed My Starving Children.

If your sides are just as important as your main dish, Taqueria La Nueva makes it impossible for us to choose which we like more between their tacos, and chips and salsa. And if you’re ever looking for some late-night Mexican food, there’s no better place than Abelardo’s Mexican Fresh. We could eat the carnitas chimichanga combo for first, second, and third dinner.

For Tex-Mex, K-Macho’s is a clear winner. The expansive menu makes this a crowd pleaser for groups needing something for everyone. If you’re on the hunt for less Tex-Mex, and more authentic Mexican cuisine, the relaxed environment at Ixtapa is the perfect place. An entire menu section dedicated to chiles rellenos? Yes, please!

South Overland Park

We’re taking things farther south for our final section in this Mexican food round-up! Let’s start with Jalapeños. Is it bad to pick a dip as our favorite menu item? Every dish at Jalapeños is phenomenal, but we would drink their iconic jalapeño dip through a straw if we could. Mi Ranchito is another spot loved by Overland Park visitors and residents alike, where you can find classic Mexican dishes. We love the tamales and enchiladas, or the deep fried tacos when we’re craving an extra-crispy shell.

Looking for a new Taco Tuesday spot? Meet Tacos & Tequila. Their drink program includes tequila flights for tasting, and the mouth-watering menu pulls from traditions and authentic flavors found in Mexican cuisine. The loaded rice is a must, and the combo option makes it easy to avoid hard decisions and try a little bit of everything.

Last but certainly not least, we have Fajita Pete’s. Handmade corn tortillas go the extra mile in making these fajitas something to write home about. Fajita Pete’s has nailed the take-home game, too, for nights you’re craving Mexican food but want to enjoy it in your own kitchen.

There’s clearly no shortage of amazing Mexican food in Overland Park. Let us know in the comments which spots are your favorite, and tag us on social with #VisitOP so we can follow along!
