Downtown Overland Park's St. Patrick's Day Parade
Get ready to celebrate all things green at the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Downtown Overland Park! Kicking off at 10 AM on Saturday, March 8 (rain or shine) this beloved tradition brings festive floats, live music, and plenty of Irish spirit to the heart of the city. The parade begins at 79th & Floyd, making its way west on 79th Street before heading south on Santa Fe Drive to the roundabout. After the parade, keep the celebration going by grabbing a bite and a pint at one of Overland Park’s fantastic local pubs and bars.
Night at the Arboretum
Experience the Overland Park Arboretum like never before at Night at the Arboretum, happening on March 8 and March 13! As darkness falls, explore the gardens under the stars, gaze through giant telescopes, and uncover the secrets of nocturnal wildlife and constellations. Want to add a little extra glow to your night? Join the 5 PM Glow Hike or 6:30 PM Glow Yoga – both are included with your ticket, just be sure to select them when purchasing online. Admission is free for children under 5, $3 for children ages 6-17 and $7 for ages 18+.

Opening Day at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead
Springtime fun begins at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead as it opens for the season on April 1, 2025! The baby goats are back and ready to play, along with more than 250 animals and birds waiting to meet you. This family-favorite destination offers endless hands-on experiences – from bottle-feeding baby goats and petting cows in the dairy barn to exploring a Kanza Indian encampment and a one-room schoolhouse. Arrive early to meet the farmstead’s beloved mascot, then take a stroll down Main Street to the fishing pond. Admission is $5 for ages 3+.
Downtown Overland Park "Hop & DOP" Easter Egg Hunt
Get ready for a hoppin’ good time at Hop & DOP, Downtown Overland Park’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 19 from 10 AM to 12PM! Kick things off at the Clock Tower Plaza to grab a bag, then explore Downtown OP in search of colorful egg posters displayed in local business windows. Each time you find one, head inside for a special treat! Keep your eyes peeled for the Easter Bunny, and enjoy live music while you celebrate. This free, family-friendly event doesn’t require tickets – just bring your best egg-hunting skills and get ready for some springtime fun!
Opening Day of the Overland Park Farmers' Market
Opening day of the Overland Park Farmers’ Market is almost here! On Saturday, April 19, the 2025 market season kicks off at Matt Ross Community Center, bringing farm-fresh produce, local goods, and specialty items to Downtown Overland Park. This temporary location is due to construction of the brand-new Farmers’ Market and Downtown Gather Space Improvement Project, ensuring an even better market experience in the future. This year, the market will run Saturdays from April 19 to November 22, with Wednesday markets from June 4 to September 3.
Wine Tasting on the Terrace
Sip, savor, and soak in the beauty of nature at Wine Tasting on the Terrace at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens on April 17, May 1, and May 15. This elevated tasting experience pairs expertly selected wines with perfectly matched bites, all set against the stunning backdrop of lush gardens and serene landscapes. The tasting runs from 6 PM to 8 PM, and guests must be 21+ to attend (no children or pets allowed, except service animals). Reservations are required, and tickets will be available online soon. Downtown OP Margarita Wars
Raise your glass and get ready for the second annual Margarita Wars in Downtown Overland Park on May 2, 2025 at Thompson Park. Over 15 local bars and restaurants will compete to claim the title of Best Margarita in Johnson County – and you get to be the judge! Your $25 wristband grants you access to sample every handcrafted margarita and cast your vote for the winner. The event is open to the public, and guests 21+ can purchase margaritas from 4 to 8PM, but only those with a tasting band can sample and vote. Tickets are limited and on sale soon.
Kite Fest
Gather the family and head to Kite Fest on May 4, 2025, from 10AM to 4PM for a day of soaring fun at the Overland Park Arboretum! Feel the excitement as kites of all shapes and sizes take to the sky, painting a colorful picture over the prairie. Pack a picnic, grab some lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy a carefree afternoon outdoors. Forgot a kite? No worries! Kites will be available for purchase. This free-with-admission event is the perfect way to enjoy fresh air, laughter, and quality time together.
Third Fridays
Discover the charm of Downtown Overland Park at Third Fridays, where the streets come alive with art, music, and community spirit. Held on the third Friday of every month from 5 PM to 8 PM, this evening event invites you to explore local art galleries, many of which offer exclusive specials, live entertainment, and unique experiences.
