It's officially the second most magical time of the year! This fall, make your way to these four Overland Park bakeries and dessert shops for sweet treats packed with flavors like pumpkin, caramel, apple, cheesecake and more. Plus, you'll find a few Chiefs-themed specialties! No matter if you're craving a pie, ice cream, or something more unique, these local flavors are sure to satisfy your autumn sweet tooth.
JARS by Fabio Viviani
Craving an easy-to-enjoy dessert? JARS by Fabio Viviani is a new, unique dessert experience with a beautiful and fun presentation. Located in Hawthorne Plaza, JARS has a rotating offering of mini dessert flutes (A.K.A. JARS!) and gorgeous cake shakes. With flavors like Triple Chocolate Nutella, Tres Leches Cake, and the Chiefs-inspired KC 3Peat, you can’t go wrong! Each month, they release 6 limited-edition jars with new October seasonal flavors coming soon.
If you love classic and elevated fall flavors, then I have found your go-to spot: The Upper Crust. Located in Downtown Overland Park, this independently-owned bakery serves up freshly-baked goodies, like pastries, cookies, and (of course) pies! This fall, make sure you try the molasses crinkle cookies, the caramel apple pie, and the traditional pumpkin pie. These slices of heaven are available in full size pies or their adorable 5" cutie pies, perfect to enjoy solo or with friends and family during special occasions, holidays and gatherings!
When you think of desserts, popcorn may not be the first thing that comes to your mind. But at Popculture, popcorn is transformed into a gourmet, mouthwatering dessert. For the fall season, they have filled their sampling wall with fun and unique autumn flavors like Pumpkin Cheesecake, Pumpkin Spice and Chiefs-inspired flavors like Tailgate. This sweet and savory combo includes BBQ (flavoring from Gates), White Cheddar, Caramel and Cinnamon. This is such a fun spot for flavor sampling and picking up the perfect unique gifts for the holidays or anytime snacking.
The Golden Scoop is a life changing, non-profit ice cream shop. They employ and empower Super Scoopers, who are very talented individuals who happen to live with a disability. From the moment you walk in to either of their two Overland Park locations, you will be happy you stopped by. Don’t miss their seasonal coffee drinks like the Pumpkin Cheesecake or Cinnamon Roll Latte, and handmade ice creams with flavors like Pumpkin Pie and Sea Salt Caramel Crunch.
My top pick was the unique How About That Ice Cream! Inspired by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid’s love for Mo Pie, this unique flavor has a caramel base and caramel apple pie topping. You can try a sample or two before you buy and trust me, this one is a winner! Another unique fall flavor is the Love Story, inspired by Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s and Swift's love for chai tea. This flavor has a chai base mixed with Mama Kelce’s famous chocolate chip cookies. They just opened a second location, so you won't have trouble trying out this locally-loved ice cream shop.
With so many delicious options, it's clear that Overland Park is the place to be for fall-inspired treats this season. So, gather your friends, support these local businesses, and treat yourself to the best autumn flavors Overland Park has to offer. Fall never tasted so good!
