With crisp spring mornings and warmer days ahead, it’s the perfect time to get out and explore Overland Park! From scenic trails to lunchtime patios, there’s something for everyone to enjoy spring in OP. Check out these favorite spots during your next visit!

TAKE IN THE LOCAL LANDSCAPE

Set out on Indian Creek Trail for a walk or bike ride. Running along the banks of its namesake Indian Creek, the trail offers miles of accessible paved path. With multiple access points and city parks along the way, Indian Creek Trail is a perfect recreation destination for everyone, from serious runners to families wanting to get the bikes out.

If leisurely garden strolls are more your thing, the Overland Park Arboretum is home to nearly 2,000 species of plants. Covering 300 acres, the Arboretum is home to beautiful botanical gardens (including a children’s discovery garden), hiking trails, and open prairie. Before you visit, be sure to check out the Arboretum’s calendar of events for additional kid and family-friendly activities!

GAME TIME

Multiple spots offer a true “eat + play” moment. Strang Hall in downtown Overland Park is a food hall with plenty of options for even the pickiest of eaters. Head to the courtyard after lunch and get in a game of cornhole on the turf. For pickleball fans, Chicken & Pickle and SERV both provide kid-friendly food options and space to play between games.

If your idea of springtime fun involves a golf club, look no further than Topgolf. The variety of games promises fun for every skill level. Add in a menu of delicious food, and it’s a guaranteed hole-in-one for everyone!

For spring days with more rain than shine, BRKTHROUGH is an indoor social gaming destination. Grab your friends and family, and tackle the physical, mental, and skills-based challenges offered in BRKTHROUGH’s 35+ high-tech game rooms.

MEET ME ON THE PATIO

Springtime in Overland Park means the best seats in the house are actually on the patio. The indoor/outdoor patio at Rock & Brews in Prairiefire offers plenty of space for the family and a menu with all the favorites like burgers, BBQ, and wings. Or, head to Martin City Brewery in Mission Farms, grab a table on the patio and enjoy their famous stone-fired pizza.

CAFFEINE PICK-ME-UP

There is no shortage of local coffee shops. We love Jinkies, known for its 1970s nostalgia and funky coffee and tea creations. Try the fan-favorite Cookie Dough Latte, or keep it classic with an Americano or drip coffee. There are plenty of tea options for the non-coffee drinker, too, and the Scooby Doo-themed lemonade menu is a hit with kids.

McLain’s Market is conveniently located just off the Indian Creek Trail if you need a boost during a long walk. Grab a spot on the patio and refuel with a coffee (or maybe a fresh-baked pastry) before getting back on the trail!

If you make a visit to the Overland Park Farmers’ Market, Parisi Cafe is a short walk away and a perfect pit stop before checking out other local shops in downtown OP.

POP IN & SHOP

We can’t make a list of springtime fun without including some of our favorite local shops. Hawthorne Plaza is a great place to start. For a spring wardrobe refresh, Clairvaux is a chic fashion-forward haven of emerging designers and heritage brands. After Clairvaux, swing through EB & Co. for a quality selection of timeless feminine jewelry, bags, and accessories.

From exploring the arboretum to a pick-up game of pickleball, Elite Feet offers shoes for every type of activity. And if your spring refresh is less focused on wardrobe and more on the home, Romanelli Optix has custom designed shades for the upcoming summer sunshine.
